¡Que viva la España!

Waaaahhh! I´m in Spain!! Wow, it´s hard to know where to begin because so much has happened already. Getting here was kind of stressful because I was all alone, I had WAY too much luggage, I almost missed my flight to Madrid and my train to Córdoba, and I was going on 30 hours with no sleep. God really provided for me though and I made it with the help of numerous strangers. Since arriving here, everything has been great. My host parents, Celso Antonio and Inma are amazing! I am so thankful for them. They have totally taken me in as a daughter already. I´ve done so much since arriving here, it seems like I´ve been here for a couple weeks. My first morning here, I got to experience a typical Spanish breakfast with Inma, her best friend, and her daughters (who are 25 and 28). We went out for churros and hot chocolate. Later that afternoon the whole family came over to meet me and have lunch and take the siesta (around 3pm). Being here has just been so much fun and I´ve learned so much already. What I love about Andalucia is that the people are so typically Spanish. Everything I read about them is true! I live in an apartment (a "piso") right in the city! I have a great view of the city from by bedroom window. Also, the apartment building is "casi pegado" (almost attached) to the school at which I´ll be working! Also, I´m so blessed because Inma and Celso Antonio speak super clear Spanish and we have no problem communicating at all. I love living with them because I get to experience the challenge of speaking Spanish 24/7. I don´t even know anyone (yet) who speaks English. Other members of the family speak with a thicker accent, so that will just take some time to get used to. There´s so much to say, but I don´t want to bore anyone with too many details. Thank you so much for your prayers, messages, etc!

P.S. It´s been difficult to access the internet so far, so if I don´t respond to your messages right away, don´t be offended. Hopefully that will change soon and I´ll figure out where I can go to access it.

I think that one of your goals while you're there needs to be to pick up a really thick and flawless Spanish accent. You can do it! (And then be able to go back and forth between Spanish Spanish and neutral international Spanish.)

Churros and hot chocolate. Wow, that brings back some really good memories. Indulge in all of that Spanish culture for me. :)
