I´m not talking about the board game. I committed my first big error today. I read in my book, Culture Wise Spain (I highly recommend this series) that politics is a topic to be avoided (maybe "avoided" isn´t really a strong enough word). Which is why, while taking the siesta with several family members and friends today, I asked: "How does the government function here?", in reference to the structure of government. The moment this question escaped my lips, the room erupted. From that point continued a "lively discussion" for an hour and a half! People´s strong and differing opinions on the topic seemed to produce more than a little bit of tension in the air. The discussion was so fast and so back-and-forth that I couldn´t possibly follow what was going on. The whole time I was just wondering what to do. I finally concluded that I should apologize for asking the question! I actually found the situation really humorous, but had to keep my laughter to myself!
Just thought you would appreciate that story... and if you come to Spain, don´t mention politics. ;-)

You know what...I'm starting to see some similar reactions to politics over here. I think I'd prefer yours though, at least it would be a little more entertaining and maybe even educational.
